SCORCHERS THUMP SYCHELLES

  The Malawi  Women footbal national team on Monday 25th September cruised past Sychelles by 17 goals to nil at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre. The match was part of the Scorchers's preparations for the upcoming COSAFA Womens Cup which is to be staged in South Africa . The Scorchers looked sharp in both phases of play and enjoyed possession making things very hard for Sychelles who failed to find a mark in the game . After the Match Scorchers Mentor Lovemore Fazili congratulated his charges but stated that despite the win , he and his technical panel had some other problems to rectify. MOHBAD DIES AT 27 ( ANALYSIS OF EVENTS )

  One of Nigeria's  fast rising Music sensations Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known in the Music circles as Mohbad Imole  passed away in the late hours of  12th  September 2023 at the age of 27 after being treated for an infection. Mohbad who begun Music from humble begginings in the streets of Lagos got recognition from the Nigerian Music industry in the year 2019 when he got signed by Marlian Music a Music label owned by one of Nigeria's Prominent record label owners Naira Marley and took the industry by storm in 2020 when he released his first Album titled "Light" under Marlian Music  as a follow up to his viral song "Ponmo" which had went viral in many media platforms across the country. MALAWI GET $174 MILLION CREDIT FROM IMF

  The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached an agreement with Malawian Authorities on the second (last) review for the staff monitored program with executive board involvement and an Extended Credit Facility arrangement. In a statement released by IMF, an IMF team led by Ms.Mika Saito has been holding discussions with the Malawian Authorities from August 29 to September 20 via hybrid and in person meeting in Lilongwe and among others , the meetings tackled discussions covering the 2nd review of Malawi staff monitored program with executive board involvement (PMB) but also included a program of economic policies and reforms to be supported by a new arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF). In her remarks Saito said that the IMF had reached a staff level agreement with Malawian Authorities and amongst this agreement includes the Extended Credit Facility of up to $174 millions representing 95% of Malawi's IMF quota over a period of 4 years .   One of the Country's renowned  Football analyst Kim Kamau has stated that FCB  Nyasa Big  Bullets still has  a chance to progress to the group stages of the CAF Champions league despite loosing their first leg preliminary match . Bullets lost one nil  to Democratic of Congo giants TP Mazembe on Sunday in a match played at the Bingu National Stadium Courtesy of an early Fofana goal in the first half of the match to go into the second leg fixture trailing by a goal to nil . In an interview with the Sight Media group , Kamau said that Tp Mazembe did not look threatening and were only limited to one shot on target which led to the only goal of the match . BULLETS FACE TP MAZEMBE

  TNM Super league deffending Champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are this afternoon facing TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the CAF Champions league second round preliminary stage first leg at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. Bullets progressed to the second preliminary stage of the competition after beating FC Dragon of Equatorial Guinea by 3 goals to nil on aggregate . TP Mazembe who have lifted the Continental silverware five times  come into this match from a 3 nil win away to Lubumbashi sporting in their domestic league match and come as favourites after having a history of putting in scintillating performances in this competition. Bullets will be looking to qualify for the CAF Champions league group stages for the second time in their history since 2004 when they last made it to the competition's group stage . MAFCO STUN NOMADS TO ADVANCE TO CUP FINALS

  Salima based soldiers Mafco FC have progressed to this year's FDH cup finals after defeating Mighty Mukuru Wanderers. Mafco came in this match as underdogs but  put on a Scintillating  performance at the Kamuzu stadium in Blantyre to cause a major upset defeating the Lali lubani giants . It was captain Paul Ndhlovu who found the back of the net in the 15th minute of the First half after heading in home a powerful free header from a Dan Chimbalanga well taken corner kick which swung past the Nomads defense and found the captain. Nomads continued to find an equalizer but did nothing much to shake the ever solid Mafco defense led by the Omni-present  captain Paul Ndhlovu who continued being a menace to   the hopes of the Nomads to level matters .  The win by the Salima based soldiers means that they have secured the Finals slot in this year's FDH cup and will be facing winners between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Dedza Dynamos Who are yet to play their semi finals match . MANAGEMENT CLOSES MZUNI

  One of the county's public tertiary institutions Mzuzu University (MZUNI) has been closed today by it's Management. This is a direct response by the institution's management towards the violent demonstrations that were staged by students at the institution who were showing dissatisfaction to the move by the University management to raise tuition fees . In a letter released by the University management signed by the University registrar Yonani Ngwira , states that the decision to close the institution was done to ensure peace and stability at the institution but also safeguard the properties of the institution from vandalism. NDANGA APPOINTED COMMISSIONER

  Former Media Institute  of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi chapter Chairperson Teresa Chirwa Ndanga has been appointed by president Dr Lazarus Chakwera as a Commissioner for the Malawi Human Rights Commission. In a letter by the Malawi Human Rights commission signed by executive secretary of the Commission Habiba Osman , Ndanga is amongst the eighth cohort of members appointed by the State President together with other selected commissioners . Ndanga who began her Journalism carreer in the year 2005 as a student intern at Zodiak Broadcasting station , boasts a very successful and colourful  media carreer having once received the CNN/Multichoice Health and Medical reporting award in 2010 before being promoted from being a reporter to an editor at Zodiak and also managed to receive many media accolades like the MISA investigative Journalist award for electronic media in 2012, 2013 and 2014 , MISA overall Journalist of the year award before being elected as the first female Chairperson fo

SCORCHERS IN GROUP A

  The Malawi Women's Football National team has been drawn in Group A of the 2023 Hollywood bets COSAFA Womens Championship cup. The Scorchers are in group A alongside hosts South Africa , Madagascar and Eswatini . Teams in this year's tournament have been drawn into three groups with group B comprising of Zambia , Mozambique , Angola and Comoros while group C comprises of of Namibia , Botswana, Zimbabwe and Lesotho. This year's Hollywood bets COSAFA Womens Championship cup is expected to commence on the 15th of October this year and will take place in Gauteng Province , South Africa. NO NEED TO INVITE THE PRESIDENT

  Organizers of the Mulhako wa alhomwe cultural festival have stated that they will not be inviting President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to this year's edition of the event because many Lomwes are being sidelined by the Chakwera led government. Pious Mvenya who is the Chairman of the event Organizing committee has said that they see no need of  inviting Chakwera with the current state of the country , further stating that things in the country are not ok . Reacting to this development , Minister of Information who is also government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu has denied claims that the government is sidelining the Lomwe in the country and has said that the president does not need to receive a special invitation to the event since these kind of events are organized with consultation from the government in a move that is aimed to bring unity in the country. MANEB RELEASE 2023 MSCE RESULTS

  The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has released the 2023 Malawi School certificate of Education (MSCE) results . In a press briefing organized by MANEB Professor Dorothy Nampola Chief Executive officer of the board has said that 160,585 students  registered to seat for the exams but 154,132 students  sat for the exams , representing a 95.98% attendance rate and out of 154,132 students that sat for the exams , 83,846 students have passed representing a 54.40% pass rate . The board has also stated that Dedza,Zomba Urban, Chitipa , Karonga, Dowa , Mzuzu city , Phalombe , Nkhotakota , Likoma and Mulanje are the top ten performing districts this year . THE JOURNALISM FRATERNITY MOURN NJIKHO

  The Journalism fraternity in the country is mourning the untimely death of Journalist Oscar Njikho who passed away on Monday , September 11, 2023 at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe after suffering from a long term illness . Njikho who once worked with Star radio before venturing into a solo career working for different consultancies was in a team of local media practitioners who worked with MISA Zambia as Research Assistants in the year 2020 . Reacting to the sad news , MISA Malawi Chairperson Golden Matonga has said that Njikho was a bright and talented media personality who has died at a very young age . "This news  is devastating for the Journalism fraternity because Oscar was a young Journalist who was yet to fully fulfill his enormous potential ", said Matonga . POGBA SUSPENDED FOR ANTI-DOPING OFFENSE

  Juventus and French midfielder Paul Pogba has been suspended by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal after being suspected of commiting an  Anti-Doping offense . Pogba who has had a tough campaign  so far due to injuries after his switch from Manchester United is suspected to have violated anti -doping regulations and this has led to him being suspended by the tribunal from any football related activities until investigations on the issue are done . Meanwhile reacting to the matter Juventus has released a statement which says that the club is aware that Paul has been suspended and they they will now consider how to act on next steps of the process . MACRA APPROVES DSTV SUBSCRIPTION RAISE

  The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority ( MACRA) has agreed with Multi Choice Malawi's proposal to raise it's subscription Fees for it's services in the country. In a letter released by MACRA being directed to the general manager of Multi Choice Malawi , MACRA has stated that the proposed tariffs which were submitted by multi choice Malawi have been considered and approved by the Authority and they expect DSTV services to resume in the country soon. Commenting on the development MACRA director general Daudi Suleman has said that the Authority gave the approval Communication to Multichoice Malawi this morning and that they were waiting for the courts to direct them if there was any breach in other aspects of the law and regulation by this unnecessary stand off by  Multi choice Malawi . PARTIES CONDEMN ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN DEMONSTRATIONS

  Some of the Country's political parties namely the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) , United Transformation movement (UTM) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) have condmned acts of violence that have been present in various demonstrations across the country denying people the liberty to peacefully hold demonstrations . The country in recent weeks has witnessed presence of unknown armed people with panga knives and axes threatening people not to continue holding demonstrations a move these political parties have called violation of human rights . Giving their Stance on  the issue , the UTM through their spokesperson Felix Njawala have said that if these barbaric practices continue , there will be blood shed in the country in the near future. Njawala further stated that Demonstrations are one of the rights everyone is previleged to and threatening people not to demonstrate is violating this  right . KAONGA OUT FOR THREE WEEKS

Zanaco and Flames attacker Chawanangwa Kaonga has sustained a knee injury that will keep him out of action for three weeks . Kaonga twisted his left knee when he collided with a Guinea player  on  Saturday afternoon during Flames AFCON qualifiers group stage match against Guinea at Bingu National Stadium . Updating the general public via his Facebook page Kaonga said that after the game he was examined by medical personnel and the results showed that he had twisted his left knee and will be out for a period of three weeks . STUBBORN FLAMES HOLD THE ELEPHANTS

  Malawi football national team on Saturday afternoon proved stubborn and managed to hold the Elephants of Guinea by playing out to a two all draw . Flames mentor Patrick Mabedi made a couple of charges to the side that last played against South Africa at the COSAFA cup by handind Silver strikers left back Tatenda M'balaka his long awaited senior debut . The Flames took the lead in the 22nd minute courtesy of a goal from the in form Bangwe All stars talisman Robert Saizi who slotted in home a left driven shot past Guinea's shot stopper . Going at the break , the Flames where in front and looked dangerous in both phases of attack and managed to dominate the midfield duels with commanding performances from the Midfield trio of Lloyd Aaron , Captain John Banda and Chawanangwa Kaonga. The Elephants of Guinea then equalized in the 56th minute when Aguibou Camara curled in a left footed drive to beat Clever Nkungula who had replaced Brighton Munthali in flames goal .   One of Mzuzu's Music Sensations Arthur Gondwe populary known in the music circles as Boy chocolate sounds has today morning released a new video titled Familiar . This video illustrates the love life of a man who tells how he met his lover and further gives an account on the issues that surround love at times including all the ups and  downs  in a visual context . He features another Mzuzu based Music prospect Octwenty.   Former Silver strikers FC winger Thuso Paipi has passed away in the early hours of today at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital in Blantyre after being sick  for a short period of time . Paipi whose blossoming Football carreer peaked at Wizard FC before securing a dream move to the Central bankers , got admitted two days ago and passed on in the early hours of today . Paipi will be forever remembered by many football fanatics in the country for taking the country's top flight by storm with Scintillating performances in the years 2017 and 2020 having also earned a national team call up within those years. CHAKWERA LAUNCHES LINGA MEGA FARM

  MALAWI , NKHATABAY_ State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has today launched the Linga Mega Farm in Nkhatabay  district as one way of eradicating hunger and poverty in the country. The farm has over 800 rice and beans farmers who have already started irrigation farming on a 450 hectare land and at full capacity, the farm is expected to utilize close to 1500 hectares as part of the initiative. Reacting to the development , the Malawi leader said that he was delighted that the scheme in complement with other support initiatives such as fisheries , honey production and livestock farming has created hundreds of jobs to the youth in Nkhatabay district. He further added that the launch confirms his administration's conviction that mega farms are the best approach in commercialising agricultural production in the country . SYLI NATIONAL JETS IN

    The Guinea Football National team (Syli National) has arrived in the country through the Kamuzu International airport ahead of tommorow's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against the Flames to be staged at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. Syli National are second in group D standings and have already qualified for the prestigious continental showpiece to be staged in Ivory Coast alongside group leaders Egypt while on the other hand the Flames have failed to qualify and sit third with Ethiopia sitting last in group standings . MABEDI BREAKS SILENCE

Flames mentor Patrick Mabedi has finally commented on his recent national team squad call up amidst various criticisms and hostilities towards the call up by many . Speaking to the media during the team's training camp ahead of Saturday's AFCON qualifiers match against Guinea at Bingu National Stadium , Mabedi stated that his call up was purely based on merit and not any factors.   The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has today issued a letter expelling it's  Member of Parliament for  Mwanza Central Nicholas Dausi . In a letter signed by Party's spokes person Shadric Namalomba , the party is said to have expelled Dausi based on recommendations from the party's disciplinary committee which found Dausi in conflict with the party's codes of conduct not Clearly stated .
