NDANGA APPOINTED COMMISSIONER

 


Former Media Institute  of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi chapter Chairperson Teresa Chirwa Ndanga has been appointed by president Dr Lazarus Chakwera as a Commissioner for the Malawi Human Rights Commission.


In a letter by the Malawi Human Rights commission signed by executive secretary of the Commission Habiba Osman , Ndanga is amongst the eighth cohort of members appointed by the State President together with other selected commissioners .


Ndanga who began her Journalism carreer in the year 2005 as a student intern at Zodiak Broadcasting station , boasts a very successful and colourful  media carreer having once received the CNN/Multichoice Health and Medical reporting award in 2010 before being promoted from being a reporter to an editor at Zodiak and also managed to receive many media accolades like the MISA investigative Journalist award for electronic media in 2012, 2013 and 2014 , MISA overall Journalist of the year award before being elected as the first female Chairperson for MISA Malawi chapter .


The appointment by the state president is in line with section 131(2) of the Republic of Malawi constitution .


Ndanga together with other Commissioners are expected to resume work on the 26th of August 2023 and to work for a term of three years .
