PARTIES CONDEMN ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN DEMONSTRATIONS

 


Some of the Country's political parties namely the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) , United Transformation movement (UTM) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) have condmned acts of violence that have been present in various demonstrations across the country denying people the liberty to peacefully hold demonstrations .


The country in recent weeks has witnessed presence of unknown armed people with panga knives and axes threatening people not to continue holding demonstrations a move these political parties have called violation of human rights .


Giving their Stance on  the issue , the UTM through their spokesperson Felix Njawala have said that if these barbaric practices continue , there will be blood shed in the country in the near future.


Njawala further stated that Demonstrations are one of the rights everyone is previleged to and threatening people not to demonstrate is violating this  right .


Earlier last week a group of armed people stormed and disturbed demonstrations organized by a certain group of human rights advocacy in Lilongwe , threatening people not to continue holding the Demonstrations that were aimed at showing dissatisfaction on how the Malawi Congress Party led government is leading the country .
