CHAKWERA LAUNCHES LINGA MEGA FARM

 




MALAWI , NKHATABAY_ State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has today launched the Linga Mega Farm in Nkhatabay  district as one way of eradicating hunger and poverty in the country.


The farm has over 800 rice and beans farmers who have already started irrigation farming on a 450 hectare land and at full capacity, the farm is expected to utilize close to 1500 hectares as part of the initiative.


Reacting to the development , the Malawi leader said that he was delighted that the scheme in complement with other support initiatives such as fisheries , honey production and livestock farming has created hundreds of jobs to the youth in Nkhatabay district.


He further added that the launch confirms his administration's conviction that mega farms are the best approach in commercialising agricultural production in the country .

Linga mega farm is one of the Country's mega farm initiatives being staged and is in line with the Country's vision 2063 master plan of making agriculture one of the pillars in enhancing Socio-economic transformation.
