COURT SETS DATE TO HEAR BAIL REQUEST

  The Court has set 9th November 2023 as a day to hear a bail request by Lester Maganga who is being accused of Murdering Allan Wittika . Innocent Kubwalo who is representing Maganga in the case has since confirmed of the date and has stated that Maganga has the right to request for a bail . "Everyone has the right to request for a bail , Maganga also has this right " said Kubwalo . Maganga is being accused of Murdering Allan Wittika who was found dead in his Car in Area  15 Lilongwe last Month. MALAWI AND CHINA ENTER INTO AGREEMENT

  The governments of Malawi and China have entered into a 2 billion Euros equivalent to K2 trillion agreement that will see the Chinese government sanction the construction , electrification and signalling of a complete rail network in the Country. This was made official during the 3rd Road and Belt Forum Currently happening in Beijing , where Minister of Transport and Public Works Jacob Hara signed the deal with China Railway Signal Communication Corporation. DPP CEC APPOINT MHANGO AS PARTY VP FOR THE NORTH

  The opposition Democratic Progressive Party's Central Executive Committee (CEC) with approval from Party President Arthur Peter Mutharika  has appointed Jappie Mhango as the Party's Vice President for the North . In a letter released by the Party signed by Party Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba, the party's CEC met chaired by Party President Arthur Peter Mutharika and came with a resolution of appointing  Mhango to fill the vacant Vice President for the North post in accordance to Article 9(a) of the Party Constitution. The letter further states that the appointment is of immidiate effect . The Party's Vice President Post fell Vacant on 8th Agust 2023 after the demise of Dr Goodall Gondwe who chaired the post . SIX KILLED IN GAZA , AS ISRAEL STRIKES

  Six  people have been killed  at al-Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza strip  as a result of Israeli airstrike on a School in the region , United Nations has confirmed. Dozens of others were injured, and it's thought the numbers will increase, according to the statement from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). “This is outrageous, and it again shows a flagrant disregard for the lives of civilians," the statement adds. "No place is safe in Gaza anymore, not even UNRWA facilities. UNRWA says the hit took place during Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip. It adds: “At least 4,000 people have taken refuge in this UNRWA school turned shelter. They had and still have nowhere else to go." Reported by Benjamin GK Nyirenda

BULLETS DEFEAT MOYALE TO RECLAIM TOP SPOT

  FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has reclaimed top spot in the Country's top flight after handing Moyale Barracks FC a 3-2 defeat. Bullets trailed after 2 minutes in the second half when Lovemore Jere headed in from a Gastin Simkonda well struck Corner kick . Ephraim Kondowe then struck twice to give the People's team a hard fought lead before Lanjesi Nkhoma struck to give Bullets a 3-1 lead . Rafael Phiri then scored in the closing minutes of the game only to reduce the deficit. Bullets now are at the summit of the Country's top flight with 47 points from 22 games and are level on points with second placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who also have 47 points but have played 3 games more than Bullets and are lacking behind Bullets's Superior goal difference. TRAVEL ADVENTURES IN LILONGWE

  Travelling around seems fun and Enjoyable , getting exposed to tough realities and vital explorations. Travelling from City Center to Area 25 in Lilongwe , I happened to board this Minibus which has a sticker with words " Wa Zaka 90 Asalipire" meaning anyone aged 90 above can board this Minibus free of charge. I was happy and Proud  to see such  kind of a gesture , and Interviewed the Minibus conductor to see if this was not a fluke . In his words he said that the sticker was not just a fluke but a move to support the elderly who find difficulties to source money for their everyday needs " Where will they get the money to pay the fare ? We do this to support the elderly who we feel are under privileged and lack alot " said the Conductor . Interestingly one of my fellow Passenger had other thoughts and clearly said that the sticker is just a fluke , To my surprise the Conductor then chipped in and said that " Azaka 90 ukapeza kuti kumalawi ngat kuno ?" GOVERNMENT TO ANNOUNCE AIP STATUS

  The Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Agricultre  is today expected to brief the general public on the status of this year's Affordable Input Programme (AIP) . Farmers across the Nation will know if they are to benefit from the programme or not but also know how much they are going to pay for the Farm Inputs once considered as  beneficiaries. Speaking to the Press , Minister of Agricultre Sam Kawale said that there is much progress on the issue concerning AIP and that the Ministry will today brief the Nation on the issue but failed to give in-depth details about the issue . Kawale further said that the Government is working hard to make sure that the AIP programme is implemented and staged successfully . CHAKWERA TO HOST THE SCORCHERS

  President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to host the Malawi Women's Football National Team (Scorchers) on Wednesday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe to commemorate   their  COSAFA cup triumph . Confirming the development was Minister of Sports and Youth Development Uchizi Mkandawire who made the remarks during a dinner gala event  at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre . The Champions received a warm reception on Monday when they arrived in the country through the Chileka Airport in Blantyre and had a trophy parade in the city before making their way to Mount Soche Hotel for a dinner gala event . The Scorchers defeated Zambia on Sunday by two goals to one in the Finals of the Hollywood bets COSAFA Womens Championship cup to claim the trophy for the first time ever In the history of Women's Football in the country . TAY GRIN BEING CONSIDERED FOR A GRAMMY NOMINATION

  Limbani Kalirani one of the Country's Iconic musicians also known as Tay Grin the music circles is being considered for  the prestigious Grammy awards nomination for the best "African act " category for his music video"Tcha". APM ELIGIBLE TO CONTEST AS PRESIDENT

  The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has stated that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) is eligible to contest as party President in  the upcoming general elections as well as the upcoming Party Convention in reference to the party Constitution , Writes Benjamin GK Nyirenda. According to a letter released by the party signed by party Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba , Mutharika is still eligible to contest as party President as well as President in the upcoming general elections because he did not complete his second term of office as President of Malawi, as his re-election as President of Malawi was nullified by the High Court of Malawi on 3rd February and ultimately by the Supreme Court of Appeal on 8th May ,2020 which according to Article 10(5) of the DPP Constitution grants him eligibility. SCORCHERS CLINCH THE COSAFA CUP

  The Malawi Women's Football National team (Scorchers) has clinched the 2023 Hollywood bets COSAFA Womens Championship Cup after defeating Zambia by two goals to one . The Scorchers took the lead in the first half of the match courtesy of Asimenye Simwaka's Well struck close range shot which  left the Zambians down and frustrated . Sabina Thom  thought that she had doubled the Scorchers's advantage when she pounced on a low shot into the Zambians net but after a Video assistance Referee check , the goal was ruled out for a foul. The Zambians came knocking in the second half and managed to equalize . The Scorchers then found the winning goal late in the second half from a Sabina Thom's curling effort which left the Zambian shot stopper stunned . CHAKWERA TO ATTEND INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF REHABILITATED NACALA PORT

  President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has this morning travelled to Mozambique where he is to attend the official inauguration ceremony of the rehabilitated Nacala port infrastructure. Speaking to the press at Kamuzu International Airport before his departure , Chakwera said that he is to attend the inauguration ceremony of the rehabilitated ,expanded and upgraded Nacala port Infrastructure in Mozambique which is expected to ease transportation costs of imports and exports in this country once fully put into operation. The Malawi leader further stated that his presence at the inauguration ceremony will facilitate easy and cheaper transportation of goods in that he will be signing three agreements namely , institutional , rail transport and road transport agreements with Mozambican President Felipe Nyusi and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema .
