END OF THE ROAD : NAM AND CHAWINGA PART WAYS

  MALAWI- The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has parted ways with queens mentor Peace Kalua Chawinga confirms NAM General Secretary. In an interview, NAM general Secretary Isaac Chimwala said that NAM has no outstanding contract with Chawinga and the association is to soon advertise the vacant position. However Chawinga insist that she extended her contract for the next five years , through NAM vice-president Chimwemwe Bakali who resigned last month , a development NAM clearly seems not to be in agreement with. USA CONSIDERING SANCTIONING UGANDA

   President of the United States of America (USA)  Joe Biden has said that his country is considering imposing sanctions on Uganda following their Anti-Gay rights law introduction . In a statement , President Biden has condemned the enactment reffering it as a "democratic backsliding" , further stating that it risks denying Ugandans services they benefit from the US. "This shameful act is the latest development in an alarming trend of human rights abuses and corruption in Uganda ", the statement reads . Biden added that the US is also considering restricting travel against anyone seeking to jet into the US from Uganda and expressesed optimism that the enactment will be reviewed to avoid jeorpadizing the 60 year partnership they have had with Uganda . EXTRADITION CASE ADJOURNED

  Malawi -Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has adjourned the extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and wife Mary Bushiri to July 10 for hearing of objections . In her statement she says the defense has ambushed the state with it's application to dismiss the entire extradition request , further stating that the defense prepared for the application while the state did not . She has therefore given defense 14 days  to file it's application and another 14 days to state to look at it and respond . Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and wife Mary are facing an extradition case In which the South African government wants the two to be sent to South Africa to among others answer charges ranging from money laundering and a witness from South Africa Sibongile Mzinyathi was ready to appear before court . HEALTH MILESTONE

  AFRICA ,MALAWI- Malawi becomes the third country in Africa to introduce World Health Organization (WHO) Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) into it's routine immunization , WHO confirms . TCV is administered to elicit T-Cells response resulting in longer term protection against typhoid by ensuring that the body produces it's own protection (antibodies) against the typhoid causing bacteria. This large scale effort comes at a critical time as Malawi battles multiple issues , with Cyclone Freddy leaving more than half a million people displaced and increasing the risk of vaccine-preventable outbreaks . More than 9 million Children from 9 months old up  to 15 years of age will be targeted in this effort aimed at preventing outbreaks by strengthening Childhood immunity with Vitamin A supplementation .   Malawi-Scorchers goal poacher Tabitha TC11 Chawinga who is currently playing for Intermilan has emerged as the top goal scorer of  the Italian Serie A Femminile league , reports Benjamin GK Nyirenda. Chawinga who  is on loan from Wuhan Jianghan University FC  a Chinese based Club banged in 23 goals this campaign to come home with the prestigious golden boot accolade months after her loan move  to the Italian giants . COSAFA DRAW OUT - FLAMES TO FACE ZAMBIA

SOUTHERN AFRICA-The draw for the 2023 Hollywood bets Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) cup has  been made and Malawi is to face their arch rivals Zambia ,reports Benjamin GK Nyirenda. Malawi has been drawn in group B alongside defending champions Zambia , Comoros and Sychelles . The tournament will see group leaders automatically qualifying for the semi finals alongside best loosers amongst the three groups . MNANGAGWA ON A STATE VISIT TO MALAWI

  SOUTHERN AFRICA , MALAWI - President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa , is expected to undertake a three -day state visit to Malawi from 31st May to 2nd June 2023 , Reports Benjamin GK Nyirenda According to a press release by Ministry of foreign Affairs , Mnangagwa is set to visit the country upon an invitation from President Lazarus Chakwera . The Zimbabwe Leader is expected to carry out several official engagements including holding bilateral discussions with President Chakwera on matters of mutual interest to the two Nations . STATE IN DARK ? : ESCOM GOES 3 YEARS WITHOUT AUDIT

MALAWI- The Electricity Supply Cooperation of Malawi (ESCOM) one of the country's major Statutory Cooperations has been operating for three years without an audit report , reports Benjamin GK Nyirenda This conduct by ESCOM is in conflict with the Malawi Audit Act which seeks to promote the accountability of agencies and statutory bodies in the management of public finances , other finances and the resources of such agencies and statutory bodies but also in violation of fiscal and audit rules , the country abides by . But reacting to the development , Kitty Chingota ESCOM public relations officer has attributed the delay in the audit report to challenges in the implementation of a management information system in 2018 and further stated that significant progress has been made and they expect the 2020-2021 audited financial statements to be finalized during the first week of June 2023. ZOMBA STADIUM SET TO BE COMPLETED THIS YEAR

 ZOMBA STADIUM SET TO BE COMPLETED THIS YEAR . ZOMBA, Malawi - Construction of the long awaited Zomba Stadium is set to be completed later this year , reports Benjamin GK Nyirenda. A visit to the site by Minister of Local government Richard Chimwendo Banda accompanied by Deputy Minister Owen Chomanika , Super league of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya , Zomba Central MP Bester Awali and  Zomba City Mayor Davie Maunde revealed that the project has been stalled for years now since it's commencement in 2017 and Managing Director of DEC construction company the contractor of the project has attributed this to delayed payments stating that" where there is money , there is progress ". The Goshen farms a subsidiary of Goshen City a project by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is expected to improve the country's economy according to expert .
