ECONOMY BOOSTER: INSIDE GOSHEN FARMS ECONOMIC POTENTIALS

The Goshen farms a subsidiary of Goshen City a project by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is expected to improve the country's economy according to expert .

In a press statement released by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri's spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo , the Goshen farms in Mchinji is expected to produce about 10,000 metric tonnes of maize in harvest and that their model is to build a city with an ecosystem that will coherently support each other , for this creating more job opportunities as well as improving the country's economy.

In 2021 President Dr Lazarus Chakwera officially launched a 10 year implementation plan for Malawi 2063 agenda aimed at transforming Malawi into a wealthy and self-reliant industrialized upper middle-income country by 2063 and one of its major pillars is Agricultural productivity and commercialization which is being further implemented with the introduction of Goshen farms by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri expected to bolster the country's economy and further contribute to the vision 2063 goals .

The economy of Malawi is predominantly Agriculture based . Agriculture accounts for 30% of Gross Domestic product (GDP) and generates over 80% of national export earnings which simply shows that coming in of Goshen farms will further bolster the country's economy.

According to Agricultural economics Commentator and Environmentalist Greshan Kamnyamata the Goshen farms will boost the economy of the country in that it will increase Agricultural productivity which will increase the country's forex through Agricultural exports . The farms will also reduce levels of un-employment " Each and every employee employed by Goshen farms will earn money through salaries and ensure that money circulates within the country , hence improving the economy" .  According to Kamnyamata Goshen farms will also procure mechanisation equipment from companies within the country hence further improving our economy by bolstering home industries earn income.

He since urged the government to assist Goshen farms management securing markets outside the country by opening doors for them to sell their  produces abroad through exports . He also said that if need arises to procure mechanisation from outside  the country, government should reduce duty on importation of mechanisation from abroad .

He also added that government should send trainees to these mega farms either from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural resources (LUANAR) or other Agricultural academic Institutions to work as interns In these farms .

He finally urged Goshen farms management to procure mechanisation from companies within the country to bolster companies within the country .

Goshen farms is part of Goshen City  project by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
