USA CONSIDERING SANCTIONING UGANDA

President of the United States of America (USA)  Joe Biden has said that his country is considering imposing sanctions on Uganda following their Anti-Gay rights law introduction .

In a statement , President Biden has condemned the enactment reffering it as a "democratic backsliding" , further stating that it risks denying Ugandans services they benefit from the US.

"This shameful act is the latest development in an alarming trend of human rights abuses and corruption in Uganda ", the statement reads .

Biden added that the US is also considering restricting travel against anyone seeking to jet into the US from Uganda and expressesed optimism that the enactment will be reviewed to avoid jeorpadizing the 60 year partnership they have had with Uganda .

The bill which was assended into law on earlier this week by President Yoweri Museveni , enjoys broad public support in Uganda and many  parts of Africa but has faced harsh criticism from the US , European Union and International human rights groups .

The US annually invests nearly 1billion dollars in Uganda ranging from people, business , institutions and military.
