  The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has suggested George Chaponda as the ideal candidate to replace Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa as Party's vice president for the Southern Region. Party Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba confirmed the development stating that the Party's vice president role for the South fell vacant the moment Kondwani Nankhumwa got expelled from the party on disciplinary grounds, hence the proposal. Namalomba also disclosed that the party has appointed Jappie Mhango as the new party Chief whip a role that involves maintaining party discipline and ensuring that members attend and vote according to the party's official stance deputised by Mary Navicha replacing Julius Mwase and Victoria Kingston respectively. Meanwhile, Nankhumwa is yet to comment on the matter . Nankhumwa and other Senior part members were expelled from the party a few days ago after a disciplinary hearing held by the party .   The International Monetory Fund (IMF) has sent an envoy to monitor progress of the Country's Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme. According to IMF country representative Nelnan Koumtigue, the IMF delegation has since arrived in the country and is expected to hold meetings with officials from Treasury and Reserve Bank of Malawi among other engagements. Koumtigue further stated that the delegates are also expected to assess comprehensively the Country's current macroeconomics developments. In September 2023 the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Malawian Authorities  reached a staff level agreement on the second (and last) review of the Staff Monitored Program with Executive Board Involvement (PMB), and a microeconomic and financial policies and reforms to be supported by a new 48-month financing arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) of about $174.00 million.   Environment Specialist Greshan Kamnyamata has urged government to consider allocating enough funds to the environmental  sector in the upcoming 2024-2025 national budget in a drive to preserve and sustain the environment in the country.  Reacting to the Pre- budget consultation meetings held in the country by Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda , Kamnyamata said that the government should allocate more funds to environment departments so that the country should bolster it's efforts when it comes to preserving and conserving  the environment as well as natural resources. "The minister must include enough resources in the national budget that are going to makesure that the environment and natural resources are well preserved " said Kamnyamata. He further stated that the government must empower citizens in the country economically to make them stop depending on income generating activities that can degrade the environment like Charcoal burning.   In a typical Democratic set up, the government must be transparent and accountable to the people it serves for this ensures citizens to be  informed but also enabling  them to participate in democratic processes. It also helps prevent corruption, promotes good governance, and allows citizens to hold leaders accountable for their actions, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more effective democracy. It's quite unfortunate that despite the general public ushering into office these parties to lead them(forming the Government of the day) the general public do not have that voice to provide checks and balances to the government and ensure transparency as well as  accountability.   Founder and Overseer of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has denied reports by the daily blog news Indicating that he prophesized about the demise of Zimbabwean Politician Nelson Chamisa. The daily blog news had claimed   that during the Grand entrance service on Sunday the 14th of January 2024 Prophet Bushiri  had prophesized that Nelson Chamisa a Zimbabwean Politician would die . But in a press release by Bushiri on his Official Facebook page, he has denied ever making this prophecy on the said day stating that he did not even make any prophecy concerning Zimbabwe as a country . The release further states that the prophecies made by Prophet Bushiri are always made available on the church's social media platforms for instance Facebook, YouTube even Satellite also stating that the media should aim at disseminating credible and accurate news and avoid Malice .   In a turn of events , one of AFRICA'S leading Sports broadcasters Super Sport is said to have managed securing broadcasting rights for the upcoming 2023 AFCON matches days after announcing that they will not be broadcasting the 2023 AFCON matches. According to a report by Idiski Times , Super Sport had made this U-turn after most of its subscribers across the continent threatened to terminate subscription if they were to fail broadcasting the matches . Idiski Times further states that a meeting was held by Super Sport management and a resolution was made to secure rights for the upcoming Continental Football showpiece. Official announcement from Super Sport is expected to be made later today or earlier tommorow.   BBC   has released a  documentary that claims that Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations was involved in many atrocities ranging from sexual assault to Slavery during his time of service as a Prophet. In a three episode documentary , it is claimed that TB Joshua was involved in the manipulation of young people across the world and subjected them to Sexual assualt and Slavery in the name of bolstering his ministry . The documentary by BBC is said to have had more than thirty people that gave an eye witness account of the these claims . This development has brought different opinions from people across the world with others in support of the documentary, while others faulting the documentary to being false . Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as T.B. Joshua was born on the 12 June 1963. He was the leader as well as founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
