GOVERNMENT SHOULD ALLOCATE ENOUGH FUNDS TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SECTOR

 


Environment Specialist Greshan Kamnyamata has urged government to consider allocating enough funds to the environmental  sector in the upcoming 2024-2025 national budget in a drive to preserve and sustain the environment in the country. 


Reacting to the Pre- budget consultation meetings held in the country by Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda , Kamnyamata said that the government should allocate more funds to environment departments so that the country should bolster it's efforts when it comes to preserving and conserving  the environment as well as natural resources.


"The minister must include enough resources in the national budget that are going to makesure that the environment and natural resources are well preserved " said Kamnyamata.


He further stated that the government must empower citizens in the country economically to make them stop depending on income generating activities that can degrade the environment like Charcoal burning.


Minister of Finance and Economic planning Simplex Chithyola Banda has been touring the country to get input from various stakeholders as well as the general public on what should the Government Include and focus on in the upcoming 2024 - 2025 National budget.
