ALL SET FOR THE PLU FRESHMAN'S PARTY

  Pentecostal Life University (PLU) Student body has confirmed that all is set for the much anticipated freshman's party event to be staged at the institution's campus premises on Friday the 1st of March 2024. In a  press briefing organized by the Student Union at the institution's campus premises, the current male Entertainment Director Sam Kizzy Mhango has confirmed that the long awaited 2024 PLU freshman's party will be taking place on Friday the 1st of March 2024 and that all preparations pertaining to the event are done and dusted. "I am here to confirm to the whole PLU Community as well as the general public that this year's freshman's party is back and happening this coming Friday, everything is in place and we are just finalizing formalities and making final arrangements to make the event memorable and epic," said Mhango. The event which will be the first of its kind at the institution has attracted the presence of award-winning Dancehall icon

SBF TO EXPOSE FILM INDUSTRY TO THE WORLD

  The Shepherd Bushiri Foundation(SBF) has taken serious strides towards exposing the country's film industry to the world through an agreement which they have signed with Nollywood Legend Nkem Owoh , popularly known as Ukwa . This was disclosed during a meeting the two parties had in Lilongwe. Among others the agreement between the two sides will see Malawian actors and actresses teaming  up with their Nigerian counterparts in making films and sharing expertise when it comes to film production . In his remarks President of SBF Prophet Shepherd Bushiri stated that he has always believed in the potential the  Country's film industry has and that this will help in giving it the much needed exposure to the outside world. On the other hand Nkem Owoh disclosed that the first project under the agreement will be shot in April this year and hailed Bushiri for continuing to bolster the country's art heritage also stating that actors and actresses in the country will be communicated

PARTIES URGED TO DESIST FROM EXPLOITING THE YOUTH

  The youth led Civil Society Organization (CSO) has urged political parties in the country to desist from exploiting the youth in perpetrating acts of violence against their opponents. In a press statement released by the group signed by leader of the group Mathews Kajani, the group has stated that they are aware of the tendency of some political parties in the country of exploiting the youth to carry out acts of violence against their opponents in pursuit of narrow political interests . The statement further states that this mal practice jeopardizes the security of these youth and fuels a cycle of aggression and hostility within a country which inturn discourages the youth from actively participating in various activities within the electrol cycle. The group through the statement then urged all Political parties in the country to stop this mal-practice prior to the 2025 general elections . CHITHYOLA TO PRESENT 2024-25 BUDGET IN PARLIAMENT

  Minister of Finance and Economic affairs Simplex Chithyola Banda is  today expected to present the 2024-2025 National budget at Parliament building in Lilongwe. Chithyola is expected to start the presentation at 2:00 pm today in what is expected to be  a highly anticipated presentation this year in the parliament building after the State of Nation Adress made weeks ago by President Lazarus Chakwera. This comes a month after Chithyola staged a number of Pre-budget consultation meetings with various stakeholders and the general public across the country. CHAKWERA TO ATTEND Q AND A SESSION IN PARLIAMENT

  President Lazarus Chakwera is today afternoon expected to attend a question and answer session at Parliament building in Lilongwe. Addressing the house yesterday, deputy speaker of Parliament Aisha Adams said that through  the Q and A session President Chakwera is expected to answer questions from Members of Parliament pertaining to the State of Nation Adress (SONA) which was made by the head of state on Friday the 9th of February 2024. This session will provide MP's with an ideal platform to enquire on different issues being faced by the nation. The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is an annual speech delivered by the President or Head of State to update the country on the current social, economic, and political state of the nation. It is usually delivered to a joint session of the country's legislature and is an opportunity for the President to highlight the government's achievements, outline its plans and priorities, and address key issues facing the nation.   Silver Strikers FC have today Monday the 19th of February  completed the signing of Chitipa United goalkeeper George Chikooka and Civo Service United goal poacher Binwell Katinji . Chikooka who had 13 cleansheets last season has signed a three year deal with the Central Bankers while Katinji who managed to bang in 11 goals for Civo Service United has signed a two year contract. FOOTBALL AND NETBALL TALENT NURTURING DRIVE : TECHNICAL PANEL CONDUCT SCOUTING MATCHES

  In a drive to ensure Football and Netball legacy  sustainability and talent nurturing at the Institution, Pentecostal Life University Football and Netball Coaching panel have organized a scouting series of matches to be played at the Institution's Sports Complex today the 16th of February 2024 . In an interview with the Sight Media Group, Head Coach mentoring the Institution's Football team and head of Football development  Management at the Institution, Coach Wilson Sengani stated that these matches will be aimed at providing the technical panel with a much needed platform to scout potential Players to be included in the Institution's senior teams in both netball and football ahead of an action packed schedule of tertiary sporting competitions . GOSHEN FARMS TO VENTURE IN IRRIGATION FARMING

  Visionnaire of Goshen Farms one of the Subsidiaries of Goshen City Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has disclosed that he plans of  venturing into irrigation farming to maximize harvests . Bushiri made the remarks when he inspected one of the Goshen Farms , Kapiri Farms in Mchinji. He further stated that Malawi as a country should now employ Irrigation farming rather than heavily depending on rain fed Agriculture which is becoming a challenge due to the unpredictable rainfall patterns the country is facing. With the full utilization of Irrigation farming, Goshen Farms have the  capability of harvesting crops twice or thrice a year, reducing the hunger rate in the country. Reacting to the development, Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale who accompanied Prophet Bushiri for inspection, said that the Goshen Farms are in line with the Country's Vision 2063 goals . JUDGE TO GIVE VERDICT IN THE NEAR FUTURE

  Lilongwe High Court Judge William Msiska has stated that the court will pass it's verdict on the case involving Kondwani Nankhumwa and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the near future. Msiska said this in Lilongwe when the court heard facts from the two parties pertaining to the case . Lawyers representing both parties have confirmed about the development further stating that the Judge needs more time to properly scrutinize the facts provided by them . Kondwani Nankhumwa went to Court to get an injunction restricting DPP from expelling him from the party after being expelled by the party on disciplinary grounds weeks ago . Benjamin GK Nyirenda

COMMOTION IN PARLIAMENT

  There was commotion in Parliament as  two Members of Parliament rose to address the house as Leader of Opposition. The drama started when Speaker of the House Catherine Gotani Hara requested the leader of Opposition to address the house on the business committee proceedings . Leader of Opposition in the house Kondwani Nankhumwa rose to address the house on the business committee proceedings but faced Opposition as  the newly  appointed Leader of Opposition Mary Navicha   also rose to address the house . Speaker of the house then asked Mary Navicha to take her seat and recognized Nankhumwa as the Leader of Opposition something which did not go well with some DPP members of Parliament in the house who started opposing the move by Hara . This then prompted Hara to suspend the house for ten minutes to solve the issue. The Democratic Progressive Party weeks ago,  fired Kondwani Nankhumwa as Leader of Opposition in the house following his expulsion from the Party on disciplinary issues and
