ANTAGONISTIC IN NATURE: DPP CONTINUE FACING DIVISIONS

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) continues to face hostilities and conflicts within it's spheres .

This comes after a segment of the party's members continue to question the endorsement of Professor Peter Mutharika as the party's torch bearer in the coming 2025 Presidential polls .

Earlier this week DPP parliamentarian for Zomba Chisi Mark Botomani stated  that DPP MP's that are deemed to be against the process of endorsing Mutharika are being sidelined from taking part in party activities and further claimed that Mutharika is being lied to by other Party members .

This also follows earlier sentiments made by party's Deputy director of research and training Werani Chilenga describing the party's National Governing Council (NGC) meeting which endorsed Mutharika as the party's torch bearer,  held on the 3rd of July 2023 as most disorganized meeting ever adding that it was an Illegitimized one .

But reacting to these wrangles the party's spokesperson Shadrec Namalomba has asked Members of Parliament who are against Mutharika's Candidature in the 2025 presidential elections to support the idea or leave the party , amove which has left alot of questions unanswered in the party's Democratic instincts.

The opposition DPP lost power to the Tonse Alliance during the 2020 re-run elections and has since witnessed power struggles .
