NGO donates to Flood victims in Karonga
With Support from one day wages, SPRODETA on Wednesday distributer food items worth MK20, 000, 000 to 1, 000 households in the area of Group village Hedman Zindi in Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district following a response to the floods that had hit the community in February 2024 affecting over 1, 300 household from GVH Zindi only. Speaking in an interview, Zacharia Chisambi Secretary to GVH Zindi disaster committee applauded SPRODETA for the support saying the food supplements have come at a right time when the community members are struggling to source food for their families. “We have really been affected by the floods and we rely on government and other development partners for our community to recover. Since February, what used to be our income generating activities have been shuttered by the floods. Our main source of food is Rice and Cassava, but if you check our farms, our crops are pathetic” narrated Chisambi. Martha Msukwa a 56-year-old woman from kafikisila
