NGO donates to Flood victims in Karonga

  With Support from one day wages, SPRODETA on Wednesday distributer food items worth MK20, 000, 000 to 1, 000 households in the area of Group village Hedman Zindi in Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district following a response to the floods that had hit the community in February 2024 affecting over 1, 300 household from GVH Zindi only.   Speaking in an interview, Zacharia Chisambi Secretary to GVH Zindi disaster committee applauded SPRODETA for the support saying the food supplements have come at a right time when the community members are struggling to source food for their families.  “We have really been affected by the floods and we rely on government and other development partners for our community to recover. Since February, what used to be our income generating activities have been shuttered by the floods. CORRUPTION HINDERING MALAWI'S DEVELOPMENT

  Former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe has pointed out corruption as one of the issues hindering the development of this country . Kabambe made the remarks last night during a Business In-Detail forum in Lilongwe that brought together economic experts, entrepreneurs and  business people to share insights on the operating environment and shaping the future of business where he proposed a seven point plan to improve the country's economy and development. In his remarks Kabambe proposed that the country must completely root out corruption if it is to develop  by prosecuting perpetrators to this mal practice. He further stated that corruption has been hampering the country's development and economy for years hence the need to eradicate it. "One of the key deterrents to Malawi’s development is corruption; Malawi cannot develop with rampant corruption. I therefore propose the prosecution of all known and reported cases," said Kabambe.
