PRESIDENT TO ATTEND AFFREXIM BANK ANNUAL MEETING

  President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has left the country through the Kamuzu International Airport to attend the 30th Annual meeting of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM BANK) in Accra , Ghana . AFREXIM Bank a pan-African multilateral  financial institution has existed for 30 years and has been a prominent stakeholder in Malawi's development trajectory through financing of landmark projects and programs in key sectors of the country. This year's theme for the meeting will be "Delivering the vision, Building prosperity for Africans ", and is just in line with Malawi's stance to upscale industrialization and expand exports into Regional and global markets a drive that will support the country's vision 2063 agenda . GESD PROJECTS TO BE AUDITED

  Government has confirmed that it will send auditors to audit Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) projects in various District Council's across the nation from next month . This exercise by government is a reaction to rumours Circulating across the nation that are claiming that some DCs across the country are mismanaging funds . Speaking during a press briefing in Salima Minister of Local government, Unity and culture Richard Chimwendo Banda said that these auditors will be sent in various District Council's to conduct proper investigations and unveil the truth . He further warned all councils that will fail to provide reports on how they've used 60% of the funds that were allocated to them in the previous financial year to face penalties . LEAGUE KICK- OFF DATES SHIFTED

    The Mzuzu youth Football Committee has shifted the kick-off dates for the FAM U14 and 16 League games due to some problems encountered. In a statement released by the Committee through their General Secretary Burton Mphande , both leagues where supposed to kick off this weekend but due to other problems encountered , the kick off dates have been shifted to next weekend. GIFT OF CHESS DONATES CHESS SETS TO PLU

  A US based Charitable organization transforming lives through chess , Gift of Chess has donated 5 chess sets to Pentecostal Life University (PLU) . Speaking at the handling ceremony Ambassador of Gift of Chess to Malawi Suzan Namangale said that Chess is not just a game but a tool for Education highlighting that Chess ensures that one becomes resilient, patient and faces hurdles in life and also added that Chess offers skills that the school curriculum can not offer for instance decision making, analytical skills but also Critical thinking which Chess Bridges it's gap . She went on saying that they came to the institution to support the newly established Chess club at the school which has been lacking Chess sets and encouraged female students at the institution to be  part of  Chess activities. ANOTHER GIANT VICTIMIZED BY ROOKIES

  The country's top flight giants Mighty Mukuru Wanderers suffered a one nil loss to rookies Extreme FC at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe to sum up what has been a competitive League campaign so far . Extreme FC led in the first half through a Gregory Mwase powerful header which lopped into the nomads goal and the Nomads never seemed to recover since that early set back . Wanderers mentor Mark Harrison started with a very changed side opting for veteran Chiukepo Msowoya to lead the lines in the expense of their leading top goal scorer Christopher Kumwembe , he also gave a first start to Vitumbiko Kumwenda who hasn't been starting for the Lali Lubani boys .   Silver strikers have climbed top of the TNM super league standings after displacing deffending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets following a 1 nil away win to Kamuzu Barracks. The Bankers collected maximum points against Kamuzu Barracks FC through the inform Stain Davie in a match played at Civo Stadium. KNOCKERS , GAFU ADVANCE

  Hard Knockers and Gafu booked their spots in the upcoming Northern Region FAM women's league after an impressive Play off showpiece . Hard Knockers were grouped in group B of the play offs alongside Mighty Queens and Sonda Dairy and they managed to beat their two opponents and claimed top spot with 6 points from 2 games . On the other hand Gafu were grouped in Group A of the playoffs along side Madodi and Sporting also managed to collect maximum points and claimed top spot in their group . The two have now qulified for the Northern Region FAM women's league for the first time in their club histories and are to meet other teams like Bico opticals , MK Academy just to mention a few . WORLD BANK PUMPS IN $265 MILLION TO BOOST FOOD RESILIENCE

  The World Bank has approved $265 million dollars to the government of Malawi to scale up Agricultural Commercialization and improve food resilience. In a press statement released by World Bank, the funds allocated to Malawi are part of the $903 million funding approved by the World Bank Directors in International Development Association (IDA) financing for countries including Comoros ,Malawi , Kenya , Somalia and Tanzania , with Malawi getting $265 million share . The funds to Malawi are expected to help the country establish new six irrigation schemes , Support an additional 560 productive alliances that target more than 112,000 households and work with small holder Farmers to execute productivity-enhancing investments. MNANGAGWA PAYS HOMAGE TO NGWAZI

  The President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa who is in the country for a state visit  , paid homage to the late founding Father of Malawi Ngwazi Hastings Kamuzu Banda . As part of his engagements during his state visit to Malawi , Mnangagwa visited the Kamuzu Mausoleum in the country's Capital Lilongwe where he laid a wreath to pay  homage to the country's founding Father who during his rule inspired Zimbabwe's struggle for Independence. Banda first became involved in politics in late 1940's when he opposed the federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland , but also fought for self rule and abolishment of Colonialism in Malawi a move which inspired other Africans like Colonel Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe to fight for Independence.   Chitipa United Football Club has secured a six months sponsorship package from Mvuma Group of companies. The package will see the new  sponsors providing training kits and travelling kits to the players and the technical team  but also introducing a man of the match accolade worth One hundred thousand kwacha per game . The terms of the sponsorship package will include Mvuma Group of companies branding the team's bus with it's colours. The sponsorship is open for a renewal after it expires depending on how fruitful the partnership will be in the agreed time frame . BB AND MPC ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT

    FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has entered  into an agreement with one of the country's statutory body Malawi Post Cooperation (MPC) . This was made public at a signing ceremony organized by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and MPC in Blantyre. The agreement will see Bullets Supporters Committees across the country selling the clubs merchandise in 180 MPC offices country wide . In his words during the signing ceremony Bullets Chief Executive Officer Suzgo Nyirenda hailed MPC for  partnering with the people's team a move that he thinks will help the club to know the actual number of Supporters it has . While on the other hand MPC Chief Executive Officer Linda Mpando said that the agreement with Bullets will help them market their services to a large number of people regarding the huge Fan base Bullets has .
